2017 Subaru Forester Wins Consumer Reports Top Pick

The trustworthy organization Consumer Reports recently released its Top Ten Picks for their Best New Cars of 2017.  The awards are chosen because these vehicles are outstanding and all-around performers that are shown to be reliable, safe and satisfying for its owners.

imageThe vehicle chosen for the small SUV category with high scores is….Envelope Please!  It is the new 2017 Subaru Forester.  (Applause). Consumer Reports stated: “The Subaru Forester sets the standard for small SUV’s, combining relatively roomy packaging, fuel efficiency, solid reliability and easy access.” You can visit this winner with the friendly folks at Five Star Subaru of Grapevine located at 2651 William D. Tate Avenue in Grapevine, Texas or by calling the dealership at 817.438.1700 and see what the fuss is all about.

A Forester in your favorite color and styling is waiting for your own close up and personal attention.  Indeed, the Subaru Forester offers one of the lowest starting prices, a very competitive list of standard and available features and the rarity of standard All-Wheel-Drive.  These make the Forester a triple threat in the competitive compact SUV line up because it delivers more bang for your buck.  The Subaru’s standard AWD deserves its very own shout-out as this system delivers more confidence with your driving experiences in nasty weather.  Your next step is an enjoyable test drive in this Forester.

The first positive observation is the Forester’s handsome and practical styling in its wide and assertive stance.  You and yours will also appreciate the wide doors to make for easy access and exit.  The seats are comfy and sturdy front and rear with a high-riding position that gives both the front and rear passengers a great view of the road; lots of head and leg room for even those tall folks.  The seats come standard with a smooth cloth upholstery and are also available in leather, as well as power adjustable driver’s seats and much more.

The Forester’s cargo capacity is among the highest in its class with over 34 cubic feet behind the rear seats and nearly 75 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.  Lots of room for those trips to the big box stores. Also, inside the Forester’s controls are simple, logical and easy to learn without the help of your teenager. On your test drive, you will appreciate how the handling is so sporty and how well the Forester glides into those country curves for a quiet and smooth experience.  What may be efficiently powering you down the road is the standard perky 2.5-liter flat-4 that delivers 170 lively horses.  If you desire more zip in your trips, then also test drive the more powerful 2.0-liter Turbo with 250 aggressive horses that love to get you quickly off the line.  The base models have the standard 6-speed manual or the available smooth Continuous Variable Transmission; the Turbo comes with the CVT transmission.

Everything just comes together with the Subaru Forester especially in the fun to drive area.  Find out for yourself why this Forester won the prestigious Consumer Reports award with a short drive to Five Star Subaru of Grapevine which is another trustworthy organization.  One is waiting for anyone’s budget and styling.

2017 Subaru Impreza Pushes the Limits

The new 2017 Subaru Impreza isn’t just a completely re-engineered compact-class car; it is a messenger of change for this Japanese carmaker.  The Impreza introduces a more expressive design language that includes a more raked angle to the windshield, a lower rear roofline, wheel arches and sculpted sides. The rear looks wider and lower with repositioned taillights, which also allow for a 4-inch wider trunk opening on the sedan and a 5-inch wider opening on the hatchback.

2017-Subaru-Impreza-6The interior has more premium materials and plastics, more soundproofing (including thicker side glass and windshield) and a quieter fan and air conditioning system. It also has the first new door handles in 17 years. There is more front headroom (39.8 inches), more back seat legroom and enough trunk space for three golf bags. Infotainment and connectivity features include 4G internet, Apple CarPlay and Tom Tom navigation. There are three audio units with 6.5- to 9-inch display screens, including an upgrade for a Harman Kardon Green Edge system.

Performance is now at the highest level in the history of Subaru — “near sports car level,” the marketers say, making the Impreza faster than the sporty BRZ coupe. A revised 2.0-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine adds direct fuel injection and other enhancements, raising horsepower to 152 from 148. Fuel economy is up by about 1 mpg for the entry-level sedan with CVT ratings of 28 mpg city, 38 highway and 32 combined, on 87 octane. The Hatchback Sport is rated 27/35/30 mpg.

In highline models, the Lineartronic continuously variable transmission, or CVT, has a seven-speed manual mode with steering wheel paddle shifters. The steering response is quicker and more fluid with active torque vectoring to help keep the front end pointed on the driver’s intended path. Four-wheel disc braking has a more responsive pedal feel.

Safety was a priority in the redesign. Features include seven air bags, a rearview camera and a suite of advanced technologies for driver-assistance systems. The optional EyeSight package includes adaptive cruise control, automatic pre-collision braking, lane-departure warning and sway warning. Blind-spot detection with lane-keep assist and rear cross-traffic alert are available. Also new are (optional) turning headlights and automatic high-beam assist. Rear automatic braking detects large objects and reacts from 1 to 9 mph.

The new Impreza is a solid value that pushes limits, raises expectations and pulls away from old ideas.  Find yours today at Five Star Subaru of Grapevine at 2651 William D. Tate Avenue in Grapevine, Texas today!

Especially in its very roomy cabin with its comfy and supportive seats for five.  Owners appreciate the handsome and usable center stack that includes a large touch screen infotainment setup where you won’t need your teenagers’ assistance.
